There are always doctors at Newtown Medical that are happy to take new patients. If you would like to know if a particular doctor is taking on more patients, please call reception on (03) 5221 5044. You will be asked to fill out a new patient form online before your appointment, or if you are unable to do this online, reception can provide this for you to fill out on arrival at the clinic before your appointment.
Newtown medical centre is a private practice, we only bulk bill Care Plans, Health Assessments, and childhood immunisations appointments. The rest of our appointment charges can be found here
To request a repeat script or referral , you can submit an online request through HotDoc Your GP will typically respond within 5 days. Click Here to request. Alternatively, you can schedule an appointment with your GP either in person or via phone. Please note fees apply.
Results are best received by an appointment with your GP, either in person or over the phone. If you require a copy of your results or have any questions regarding this, please contact our nursing team at nurse@newtownmc.com.au . Please include name and contact details and our Nurses will aim to contact you within 24hrs. For any urgent results, please contact our reception team on 5221 5044.
For an emergency after hours please call an ambulance on 000.
General after hours care is available through the Home Doctor Service by calling 13 75 24, or click here to be directed to their website.
The doctors at Newtown Medical consult in a variety of sessions and times throughout the week. If your regular GP is not available when you require, we encourage you to book with one of our other available doctors. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, and on Saturday mornings, and for urgent needs there are a limited number of on the day appointments that can be booked by calling our reception team.
Our doctors encourage patients with English language difficulties to utilise the Translating and Interpreting Service National by calling 131 450. Our reception team can help organise these services for you.

If you need to contact your doctor, you can call our reception team and they will pass a message onto your doctor. If the matter is urgent a practice nurse will be able to triage your call and make arrangements on necessary next steps.

If you have been told by your doctor that you might need a iron infusion, this can be administered at Newtown Medical in our onsite treatment room. This will need to be booked as a specific appointment, and our reception team can help your organise this.
