Newtown Medical is a private billing practice. Patients need to pay for any services provided by the clinic.
The GPs at Newtown Medical Centre operate as individual independent contractors with the exception of our GP registrars. Each GP is responsible for their own billings and fees, although the practice has standard private fees set and listed below.
Whenever possible, we will process your Medicare rebate at the time of payment, provided you have a valid Medicare card.
Our fees are reviewed annually and may increase each year on the 1st of July.Β Please check the current fee schedule before your appointment or speak with one of our reception team, if you have any questions about fees.
Laboratory tests and pathology services including swabs, biopsies, pap smears, and blood tests are not billed through Newtown Medical Centre. These services are generally provided and billed by external pathology providers. Depending on the test and your eligibility, pathology serviced may be covered by Medicare or private health insurance, or there may be an out-of-pocket cost payable directly to the pathology provider.
