Dr Dave de Lima grew up in Canada and completed his first degree in Pharmacology before moving to the United Kingdom, where he obtained his medical degree in 2011. He then undertook postgraduate training in New Zealand, gaining broad experience in Adult Internal Medicine across a range of hospital specialties including Diabetes and Endocrinology, Oncology, Haematology, Intensive Care, and Aged Care.
In 2021, Dave moved into General Practice and completed his GP training in Christchurch. He was drawn to general practice by the opportunity to work more closely with patients and their families over time. He enjoys building strong long-term relationships and providing thoughtful, down-to-earth care that focuses not only on treating illness, but also on prevention and helping people make informed decisions that suit their own lives, goals and priorities.
Dave enjoys all aspects of general practice and values the variety of caring for patients across all stages of life. He places a strong emphasis on preventative health and has a warm, friendly, and relaxed consultation style. His particular interests include weight management, diabetes care, chronic disease management, insomnia, anxiety, cardiovascular health, preventative care, and palliative care.
Dave also speaks Portuguese fluently. Outside of work, he enjoys sport of all kinds, especially ice hockey, as well as live music and exercise. He is excited to be joining the Geelong community with his wife and daughter.
